Welcome Back!

Dear All Saints Families,

Welcome to another exciting school year at All Saints Catholic High School! Whether your family is returning or joining our school community for the first time, we are grateful to walk alongside you in supporting your child’s spiritual, academic, and personal growth.

As an Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) community, our school year is grounded in our strategic commitments to Be Community, Be Well, and Be Innovative. We strive to foster an inclusive, faith-filled environment where every student feels a strong sense of belonging. Guided by Catholic social teachings, we value our close partnerships with families.

In this chapter of our journey, we focus on nourishing new beginnings by nurturing the gifts God has placed within each student, celebrating growth, and cultivating strong connections across our school community.

CHANGES TO 9-12 ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION

The Ministry of Education is implementing a changed, standardized provincial framework for how final marks are calculated. Ontario’s mandatory assessment and evaluation requirements for secondary students are intended to provide a more consistent approach to assessment and evaluation for students in Grades 9 to 12, while continuing to support all students to reach their full potential, prepare students for their pathways after high school, and support student well-being.

Teachers will be providing course outlines with mark breakdowns for each course. Since changes to Assessment and Evaluation took place over the summer, the OCSB Assessment and Evaluation Committee is still finalizing the details of these documents. They will be shared with students as soon as possible.

Most courses will now have exams, including grade 9 courses. Attendance and participation will be graded using a rubric that is currently in development by the OCSB Assessment and Evaluation Committee. As soon as the rubric is released, we will share it with you. We encourage students to be in class and participate as much as possible.

18+ YEAR OLD STUDENTS

Parental access to student records for students 18 and over. If your student is now 18 years of age or older, they are legally considered an adult. Under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPAA), educational institutions are strictly prohibited from releasing an adult student’s personal information including graduation status and event details to anyone else without their explicit, written consent.

To ensure you do not miss important information, consent must be provided via the Over 18+ Parent Portal Consent Access form. If your child is already 18, they must log in to their Compass Student Portal account using their OCSB student credentials, navigate to the forms section, and submit this form. Once the form is submitted, your parental access to records and communications will be updated by the next school day.

PARENT/GUARDIAN BACK TO SCHOOL CHECKLIST

To help you and your family prepare for the new year, we have created a checklist for you to reference before the start of school. This will help ensure you and your student do not miss out on exciting news and opportunities during the year. Please complete the following as soon as possible.

STUDENT FEES

The student fee is $30.00 per student with a family maximum of $60.00. Payment can be made on SchoolCash Online. Student fees are used to supplement the cost of Student Council activities, spirit building activities, field trips, awards, school clubs, teams and activities.

ATTENDANCE REPORTING

Late arrivals will result in an email to the parent with their sign in time. Students who are at appointments will also receive the notification. We appreciate parent communication for lates and absences.

Our school uses SafeArrival to report student absences. SafeArrival is designed to make it easier, faster, and more convenient for families to report absences and late arrivals.

With SafeArrival, there's no need to call the school and leave a message. Instead, you can quickly and securely report your child's absence in one of three ways:

Using the SM Home App: Download and install the SM Home app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Online: Visit home.schoolmessenger.ca.
Phone: Call the toll-free number 1-844-478-2598 and follow the prompts

STUDENT MEDICAL INFORMATION

In preparation for the 2026/27 academic year, we kindly request that families of interest complete the essential medical documentation forms.

If your child/student has a serious medical condition (asthma, life-threatening allergy, diabetes, epilepsy/seizures), you will need to inform the school using the Life-Threatening Medical Condition Verification Form as well as submit an appropriate condition-specific Plan of Care form (attached below are the required forms). We ask that parents complete these forms each year to ensure we have up-to-date information regarding your child/students medical conditions. If the Plan of Care form has been previously submitted and there are no changes, please complete the Plan of Care Annual Review Sheet only. In addition, if your child requires an epipen or inhaler, please ensure they carry a valid one with them and provide one to the main office. Completed and signed forms can be returned to us at AllSaints.High@ocsb.ca

Please use the area indicated by white arrows for student drop off / pick up at the beginning and end of day.

STUDENT DROP OFF/PICK UP

As is the case with most schools, there is A LOT of traffic around the school at the beginning and end of the day. The designated drop-off area is found at the East end of the parking lot (see the white arrows in the picture on the left). The parking area directly in front of the school is designated for special transportation pick-up and drop-off. The bus loop is reserved for yellow buses only. Please do not turn into the staff parking area.

Drop-offs or pick-ups in the no stopping zones found along Kanata Avenue can result in dangerous situations. Bylaw has ticketed in the past. We encourage all community members to adhere to the street signage posted. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
