Girls in leadership

posted Jun 2, 2017, 6:40 AM by Norma Dodson

We would like to draw your attention to the Girls in Leadership – Skills Building Workshop.  The goal of this Workshop is to help young women prepare, and succeed, in the transition from secondary to post-secondary education. This free, non-partisan event will be held on:

DATE:  Saturday, June 10th, 2017

TIME:  10:00am to 1:00pm

LOCATION:  University of Ottawa, Lamoureaux Building (145 Jean-Jacques Lussier Pvt), Room 219.

The goal of this workshop is twofold; first, to connect young women with industry professionals to provide valuable insight into various careers, giving girls a chance to explore where they want to take their education. Secondly, to empower young women by instilling confidence and giving them the tools needed to succeed in a post-secondary environment through various skill building sessions.

Students will participate in valuable leadership and networking activities. Students will leave this workshop better equipped to overcome adversity and succeed in their post-secondary lives. To date, we have three confirmed guest speakers, Anita Vandenbeld, Member of Parliament for Ottawa West-Nepean, Karen McCrimmon, Member of Parliament for Kanata-Carleton and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Transport, and Jennifer MacLeod, a professionally certified personal development coach.
